Stóra-Ásgeirsá is located in the heart of Húnaþing Vestra in the northern part of Iceland.  (double click on the map). This land has been farmed from the settlement of Iceland and the same family has been living there and offering first class horse training and services for over 30 years.

Stóra-Ásgeirsá places emphasis on quality in horse breeding as well as in sheep breeding. The horses are brought up free in the pasture and enjoy the Icelandic wilderness which makes them both  wiser and stronger.

The breeding program of Stóra-Ásgeirsá has produced excellent, consistent and champion horses for many years, as evidenced by our horses' show results.  The most famous horse trained at Stóra- Ásgeirsá is Gordon which became the world champion in Germany 1997 in 250 meters speed pacing.

Stóra-Ásgeirsá makes a point of breeding good horses with a long pedigree. At the farm are a couple of first priced breeding mares for conformation and riding abilities.

Stóra-Ásgeirsá´s breeding goal is to produce healthy and strong horses with high evaluations for conformation, good character and willingness with a variety of coat colours.  We offer horses for sale that are good competition horses as well as being good enjoyable riding horses.

Magnús the son of Elías Guðmundsson and Sigríður Magnúsdóttir has now taken over the horse farming at Stóru-Ásgeirsá. Magnús is a skilled carpenter and holds a diploma in agriculture from The Agricultural University of Iceland (AUI) at Hvanneyri.
